Track Rodent Activity Without Using Poison – Detex Rodent Monitoring Blocks
Detex Rodent Monitoring Blocks are non-toxic, high-visibility bait blocks designed to monitor rodent activity in sensitive environments such as schools, food warehouses, zoos, parks and other sensitive settings. Used by pest professionals in food production, healthcare, and commercial premises, they provide vital insights into the presence of rats and mice without the use of rodenticides.
What Are Detex Rodent Monitoring Blocks?
These are non-toxic rodent monitoring baits infused with a highly attractive food-grade matrix that appeals to both rats and mice. Manufactured by Bell Laboratories, Detex Rodent Monitoring Blocks do not contain any active poisons, making them ideal for use in areas where rodenticide use is restricted or under strict audit controls (e.g. BRC, HACCP, AIB, and supermarket standards).
Each block contains Lumitrack®, a special biomarker that causes rodent droppings to glow under UV light, helping identify and trace rodent movement and nesting zones.
Key Benefits
- Non-Toxic Monitoring – Safe to use in food production, pharma, hospitals, and schools.
- Lumitrack® Tracer – Glowing droppings under UV help pinpoint rodent locations.
- Palatable & Highly Attractive – Encourages rodent feeding for accurate monitoring.
- Audit-Compliant – Ideal for BRC, HACCP, and environmentally-sensitive sites.
- Compatible with Bait Stations – Works with all standard bait boxes and monitoring stations.
Material, Durability, and Compatibility
Each Detex Rodent Monitoring Block is:
- Shaped with a central hole for easy rod threading and securing inside bait stations.
- Formulated with a blend of food-grade ingredients and Lumitrack® tracer.
- Moisture-resistant, suitable for indoor or sheltered outdoor environments.
It is compatible with Tamper-resistant bait stations and all IPM (Integrated Pest Management) strategies
How to Use Detex Rodent Monitoring Blocks
- Inspect and place bait stations in high-risk areas (along walls, entry points, behind equipment).
- Insert Detex Rodent Monitoring Blocks securely into bait stations using rods or holders, or otherwise secured and out of reach of non-target animals: Rats: Place 3 – 6 DETEX BLOX every 9 – 15 meters (30 to 50 feet). Mice: Place 1 – 2 DETEX BLOX every 2 – 4 meters (6 to 14 feet).
- Check regularly (e.g. weekly or biweekly) for feeding activity or signs of gnawing. Replace spoiled rodent monitoring blocks immediately.
- If the bait has been gnawed or eaten, Scan the area with UV light to detect glowing droppings and identify movement patterns.
- If activity is confirmed, switch to a toxic bait (where permitted) or implement trapping.
Why Choose Detex Rodent Monitoring Blocks?
Unlike traditional toxic baits, Detex Rodent Monitoring Blocks let you detect rodent presence without risking secondary poisoning, non-target exposure, or violating audit rules. They’re essential for:
- Pre-baiting programs
- Toxic vs. non-toxic rotation schedules
- Sites with low tolerance for rodenticides
The use of non-toxic monitoring tools is supported by the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU-Ireland) as part of Integrated Pest Management practices.
