What Does a Pest Control Technician Do?
Curious what it’s really like to work in pest control?
At Owl Pest Control, we believe this is more than “just a job” — it’s a skilled, hands-on career that makes a real difference every day. You’ll help protect homes, businesses, and public spaces across Dublin & Leinster, keeping them safe, healthy, and pest-free.
Let’s break it down…
A Vital Role for Public Health
Pests aren’t just a nuisance — they can spread diseases, damage buildings, and put people’s health at risk.
As a Pest Control Technician, you’ll play a key role in protecting public health by:
✅ Identifying pest problems early
✅ Putting in place effective treatments
✅ Helping customers prevent future infestations
You’ll work across a wide range of places: homes, offices, restaurants, warehouses, shops, schools, hospitals, and more.
What’s a Typical Day Like?
Every day brings something different!
Here’s what you can expect:
- Visit multiple customer sites across Dublin & Leinster (you’ll have a company van and phone)
- Inspect for signs of pests — rodents, insects, birds, and more
- Apply treatments safely and effectively
- Advise customers on prevention and maintenance
- Document findings and recommendations in reports
- Work mostly Monday–Friday, with occasional weekend or overtime shifts
It’s a mix of independent work and team support — you’ll manage your own schedule but always have backup when needed.
What Kind of Tools Will I Use?
You’ll be equipped with professional tools and equipment, including:
- Powerful torches, telescopic mirrors, and endoscopes
- Night vision devices and UV tracking dust
- Traps, baits, and exclusion materials
- Specialist PPE (like overalls, gloves, masks, and shoe covers)
Don’t worry — you’ll get full training on how to use everything safely and effectively.
