corona-virus-hsa-advice - Owl pest control Dublin

How to Protect yourself from Coronavirus:

Like most other countries, Ireland has been badly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here is below some of the main advice from the HSA to protect yourself from contamination:

Always:

  • Wash your hands properly and regularly, especially after coughing or sneezing, toilet use, before eating; before and after preparing food; if you are in contact with a sick person, especially those with respiratory symptoms; if your hands are dirty; if you have handled animals or animal waste
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve when you cough and sneeze.
  • Put used tissues into a bin and wash your hands.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • Keep a minimum of 2m distance between you and anyone else

Don’t:

  • Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.
  • Don’t use a face mask if you feel well and do not have symptoms. There is no evidence that using masks is of any benefit if you are not sick. You should only use a mask if you have or may have coronavirus, or if you are in close contact with someone who has or may have coronavirus

What to do if you suspect catching Covid-19?

If you know you have been in close contact* with a confirmed case in the last 14 days and have the symptoms (cough, fever, shortness of breath), you should:

  • isolate yourself from other people – this means going into a different, well-ventilated room, with a phone
  • phone your GP, or emergency department – if this is not possible, phone 112 or 999

*Close contact means either face-to-face contact or spending more than 15 minutes within 2 metres of an infected person; or living in the same house as an infected person.
