Parasitic species encountered in the Domestic Environment.

Content of training course:
Invertebrate Pest species encountered in Domestic Premises. Concentrating on the wide range of insect and invertebrate species found infesting households. The course will Concentrate on insects found in the Domestic environment. On display will be preserved specimen samples.Paul moore.jpg

  1. Understanding how these invertebrates can affect households.
  2. Damage and contamination of foodstuffs and fabrics, furniture.

  3. Mental and physical well-being – especially with parasitic species.

  4. Realising the importance of identifying the correct species to provide the correct control measures.

  5. Examination of various invertebrate developmental stages.

  6. Study and explanation of life cycles to provide optimum control measures.

  7. Locating infestations within the domestic situation – indoors and outdoors.

  8. Using appropriate monitoring techniques to capture specimens and gauge extent of infestation and efficiency of treatment over time.

  9. Gathering background on history of infestation and possible spread to/from neighbouring premises.

  10. Discussing types of treatment – insecticide application, physical measures, changing outdoor influences (stock rotation, bird feeders, dampness, hygiene, nests.)

​This course will be delivered by Paul Moore, Entomologist. Paul is one of our lecturers who has more than 40 years of experience in the Pest Control industry when dealing with insects. ​

 “Advanced Technician/Technical Inspector in Pest Management Qualification ROI”

Pre Learning provided 4 weeks in Advance

  • Module 1: The IPM provision of Pest Management Services: 16th, 17th June.

Wed 18th: Module 1 Exam 2.5 hrs +  Assignment Pre Brief

  • Module 2: Management and Control of Vertebrate Pests – Assignment submission by mid August 2020.
  • Module 3: Management and Control of Invertebrate Pests – Assignment submission by end of September 2020.
    (RSPH Level 3)

Assessment is by written examination and the completion of assignments. Candidates will be expected to refer to successful pest management treatments that they have carried out when completing their assignments. Ability to make Inspection report recommendations building effective relationships with customers.
